Medical providers rely on laboratories for accurate testing and analysis so that they can give you the best treatment possible. But relying on an outside lab can mean risking the accuracy of your results, or waiting on a lengthy line to get results back at all. For the fastest, most accurate results, you’ll want a provider with an on-site lab. A Healthy You offers a wide range of tests and screenings to make your testing as quick and convenient as possible. Lab Services Q & A

How do I get lab services performed?

Lab services appointments usually don’t take long, so they are usually easily scheduled. Certain tests will require that you fast before taking them, so you will want to schedule these tests first thing in the morning, before breakfast. This way you’ll be able to fast as little as possible while still getting accurate results.

Dr. Gray will be able to give you specifics about how to prepare for lab tests, but if you are asked to fast, you generally need to stick to water, black coffee, or unsweetened tea in the hours leading up to your test.

Why would I need access to lab services?

Lab services can mean anything from a simple blood test to complex diagnostic procedures meant to catch illnesses at their earliest stages. Dr. Gray will recommend lab services to diagnose any of the following:

  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Certain kinds of cancer, like colorectal or cervical cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • HIV
  • HPV and other STDs
  • Hepatitis

Lab services are being used to detect these diseases and to monitor them as you fight their effects.

What are the benefits of on-site lab tests?

Lab tests have a variety of benefits but the most common reasons people use the lab services at A Healthy You are for:

Accuracy

When you send your test off to a major lab with hundreds of clients, you’re raising your chances that your sample could be lost, contaminated, confused, or simply not given the attention it needs for accurate analysis. At the on-site lab, your results will get the professional care they deserve.

Convenience

By getting your tests done in the office, you can avoid having to schedule and travel elsewhere, saving you time, effort and money.

Speed

By eliminating the step of sending out your test and waiting on a third party for results, you can get your test back faster and move forward with treatment as quickly as possible.

If you need any kind of lab testing, schedule it with Dr. Gray by calling the office or use the helpful online scheduling tool.
