Dr. Ryan Guthrie is the nutrition and public health specialist at A Healthy You, an expert in clinical nutrition and healthy eating, and a proud native of Austin, Texas. Born and raised in Burnet and Austin, Dr. Guthrie stayed close to home to attend the University of Texas, where he was a cheerleader for the Texas Longhorns. Dr. Guthrie initially studied human resources, which gave him a foundation in communication skills that he uses to connect with patients today.
After a brief period as an HR consultant for B. Lynne Gray, MD, Dr. Guthrie was inspired to return to school. He received a master’s degree in nutritional health and then a doctorate in clinical nutrition and public health, both summa cum laude.
Dr. Guthrie loves helping patients reach their goals, and his one-on-one interactions help patients empower themselves to make real, lasting changes to their lifestyles to improve their health. He makes every effort to be a guide in a patient’s nutritional journey, not become the food police with harsh and unrealistic expectations and rules.
Dr. Guthrie’s large family has prepared him for the family atmosphere at A Healthy You. In his six years of practice, he has most enjoyed the opportunities it provides him to get to know and help people in his community.
He still bleeds burnt orange for his University of Texas Longhorns, enjoys Austin’s wide selection of world-class Mexican restaurants, and spends his time outside the office hiking, biking, and frequenting amusement parks with his family.
